Privacy policy

Your information, protected.

Last updated: October 3, 2026

Revent ("we") plans weddings and events in Montreal. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and how to exercise your rights. It applies to revent.ca and to our communications with you.

01

Person in charge of the protection of personal information

Our person in charge of the protection of personal information oversees this policy and answers all your requests. Write to info@revent.ca (subject: "Personal information") or call (514) 607-7278.

02

Information you give us

  • Quote request: name, email, phone (optional), preferred date (optional), type of event, number of guests and services chosen.
  • Contact form and "another kind of event" message: name, email, type of event, date and the content of your message.
  • Inspiration (optional): Pinterest or Instagram links and notes you choose to share.
  • Newsletter: whether or not you choose to subscribe.
  • During planning, if you become a client: billing details and information useful for the event (schedule, guest list, dietary restrictions).
03

Sensitive information

Some preferences, such as a halal or kosher menu, a religious ceremony or an allergy, can reveal your beliefs or health. We collect them only if you share them with us, with your express consent, and only as far as needed to plan your event.

04

What is collected automatically

  • One cookie, named "lang", which remembers your language (French or English) for 12 months. It is essential to the site and is not used for any tracking.
  • Your progress in the quote request is kept in your browser, on your device. It reaches us only if you submit the form.
  • Our hosting provider keeps technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, date and time) to keep the site secure and working.
  • We use no advertising cookies, no analytics that identify you and no profiling or location technology. If that ever changed, those functions would be off by default and turned on only with your consent.
05

Why we use it

  • To prepare your quote and answer your questions.
  • To plan and coordinate your event, including with the vendors you choose.
  • To enter into and manage our contract, invoicing and payments.
  • To send you our newsletter, only if you agreed to it.
  • To keep the site secure and meet our legal obligations, including tax obligations.

We make no decision based exclusively on automated processing of your information.

06

Your consent

By submitting a form and ticking the consent box, you agree to the use of your information for the purposes above. The newsletter is a separate box, optional and unticked by default.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to us. We may then no longer be able to prepare your quote or plan your event.

Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 14 without the consent of a parent or guardian.

07

Who we share it with

  • The vendors you choose for your event (venue, caterer, photographer, florist, etc.), with your agreement and only what they need.
  • Our service providers, who act on our behalf and are contractually bound to confidentiality: website hosting, form processing, email, newsletter delivery, appointment booking and online payment.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it.

We never sell, rent or trade your personal information.

08

Information outside Quebec

Some of our service providers may store information elsewhere in Canada or outside Canada, for example in the United States or Europe. Before communicating information outside Quebec, we assess the privacy factors involved and make sure, through a written agreement, that it will receive adequate protection. That information may nevertheless be subject to the laws of the places where it is stored.

09

How long we keep it

  • Requests that do not go further: 24 months after our last exchange.
  • Clients: for the length of our agreement, then 6 years to meet our accounting and tax obligations.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.

When that time is up, your information is securely destroyed or anonymized.

10

How we protect it

The site is encrypted (HTTPS), access to your information is limited to those who need it, our accounts are protected by strong passwords and multi-factor authentication, and we choose our service providers for their security practices.

11

If a confidentiality incident occurs

If your information were accessed, used or disclosed without authorization, or lost, we would act promptly to reduce the risk of harm. If there is a risk of serious injury, we will notify the Commission d'accès à l'information and the people concerned. We keep a register of all incidents.

12

Your rights

  • To know what information we hold about you and obtain a copy.
  • To have inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous information corrected.
  • To withdraw your consent.
  • To receive your computerized information in a structured, commonly used technological format (portability).
  • To ask us to stop disseminating information or to de-index a link that leads to you, where the law allows.

To exercise these rights, write to info@revent.ca. We will verify your identity and reply within 30 days. This is free of charge; only reasonable transcription or reproduction fees could apply, and we would tell you in advance.

13

Newsletter

We send our newsletter only to people who expressly agreed to receive it. Every message identifies us, gives our contact details and includes an unsubscribe link; unsubscribe requests are processed within 10 business days at the latest, as required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation.

14

Complaints

For any question or complaint, please write to our person in charge first (info@revent.ca · (514) 607-7278); we will do everything we can to resolve it. You may also contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca) or, where federal law applies, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

15

Changes

We may update this policy to reflect our practices or the law. The date of the last update appears at the top of the page; if we make a significant change, we will say so clearly on the site.
